According to one of the many billion popular quotes we get fed daily while online, it might have been Walt Disney who said that ‘when you are curious you find a lot of interesting things to do’ and also that ‘Ideas come from Curiosity’ … and a lot of other things that lead to unleash your mind and look beyond your fence. Whoever said that there’s one fact for sure, a whole bunch of curious people spend more of their time online than elsewhere, so, whoever you are, if you are reading me, you are curious, and I’m glad you are, because I would like to share with you some curiosities about DOGS.
At the end of last year I shared with you that awesome Christmas Village made by Kathy (if you missed that post click here), since a lot of people engaged and were happy to read about the story I decided to carry on putting together such more stories for you.
Too often I come across highly attractive DOG ART, and dog curiosities, some of them I find worth sharing around, and so I will do with you, if you follow this blog you’ll get them right on you email. (Follow!)
Today I will have Kasia on my blog, every week I get stuck on my phone when her artwork pops up in my newsfeed. I hope you will enjoy her drawings as well as I do.
Who am I ?
I’m Kasia, I am from Poland, but I currently live and work in Ireland. Here, I realise my passion for drawing and I fulfill my dream of breeding dogs.
I am a self-taught artist and I got the love for drawing from my dad. Since childhood, we competed together for fun, we thought of topics to draw.
I have not finished art school neither taken drawing lessons. My drawing skills have improved overtime from drawing in my free time and the developed my technique by trial and errors.
I started drawing seriously while in high school. I designed the clothing and I had the opportunity to fantasize when I drew. I even won few competitions and I became part of the history of the school. It gave me a lot of joy, but the design of ruffles was not my dream.
Why dog art? I love dogs, they have always been in my life. At the end of 90’s when I got
seriously into breeding, my life was changed. Everything I did was related with dogs. It began with a miniature schnauzer. I fell in love with this breed and to this day I have a fondness for the breed. Exhibitions, grooming, victory. Thanks to them, I opened the shop and salon for dogs. and that gave me the desire to paint. I started to draw dogs on porcelain cups. First, for me, then for friends and finally people started be ordered. Unfortunately, my hand did not fallen in love with brush.
Today, I specialise in colored pencil drawing and I I concentrate on the details and capture the realistic nature of the pet. I know the dogs, their character, I understand their soul. That is why drawing them gives me a great pleasure and joy. These are the beings that give us all the love what they have and it is incredibly exciting to be able to capture this on paper and show the whole world. Some time ago I started an attempt to draw also horses. This is another animal that I love and whose soul is so delicate. I was proud of myself when I drew the first portrait of a horse, and he met with great appreciation from other artists. They were not professional portraits, they were drawn spontaneously to check me if I able to cope.

I absolutely love my job and I try to always improve it. I use only professional materials of the highest quality, so that my work can last and enjoy your eyes for generations. For my colored pencil portraits I use a mixed selection of pencils for the best color pallette and use of light-fast materials; I use Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran D’Ache Luminance 6901, sometimes Primsacolor Premiersand and Colorsoft Derwent pencils. The paper I use is Italian Fabriano Artistico Traditional hot press or Strathmore 300 Bristol smooth.
Where you find Kasia’s work?
My work can be seen on the website www.kayaart.eu and www.facebook.com/PetPortraitbyKaya. Here you can contact me, if someone wants to order a portrait. There also I regularly try to show my work in processes. My clients are people from all over the world and I am glad that through my passion and love what I give her, I can immortalise their beloved pets for years, who passed away too fast. Their words of gratitude and tears in their eyes are the most wonderful appreciation for my work. They add me strength and motivation for further work.
