It was early December when I was contacted about a very important, secret and quite urgent project. A breeder of miniature Schnauzer in Finland would have a milestone Birthday in January and a large group of breeders had joined in order to offer a memorable Birthday present to this breeder.
The idea: To sculpt a portrait of each first Champion she bred from each color variety.
I was against time to accept the order, but the sole idea of having a bunch of people joint under one effort made me reconsider, besides, the breeder to receive the present is a close person to me. I just couldn’t let it down.
whiteschnauzerI received the first photo, and I started to work on the first subject, a white Miniature Schnauzer. Several days later I received the second picture, a black and silver… And it took over a week until I received the other two images, terrible old photographs scanned from a magazine. At this minute I panicked as I had to accomplish this mission IN TIME and with quality!
The project should be presented as does breeding group at a dog show, let’s say standing side by side at 45*. I proposed to stand them on a base and let the figurines non-attached so they could be played around.
The works was delivered together with other gifts (a beautiful portrait draw made by another friend) at a dog show where the group of breeders prepared a surprise birthday party. Arja Niemijarvi was the Birthday Lady, and the gift opening was broadcasted live on Facebook so I was lucky to see it from Denmark.

The dogs portrayed are:
White: CH BACK OUT’S REGULAR RASCAL
PS: CH BACKOUT’S UNITED COLORS
BS: CH BACK OUT’S FAIRPLAY
BLACK: BACKOUT’S APPLE CIDER
